Doctor wants red card system for Aussie rules

A WA doctor and former WA rugby international has called for red cards to be used in Australian rules games.

This week’s spinal injury to East Perth player Beau Chatley prompted Dr John Williams to write a letter to the editor of The West Australian, reigniting the debate for the send off rule in Aussie rules.

Dr Williams, who toured the UK with the WA rugby union team in the 1950s, told Gary Adshead on the 6PR Morning Show,  that Aussie rules players should see red, if their conduct on the field results in an opponent being unable to continue in the match.
