Luke Ryan says he understands Adam Cerra’s desire to return to Victoria and be closer to family.

The Dockers midfielder has asked to be traded after four years at Fremantle.

Ryan, who is from Melbourne, said travel restrictions due to COVID-19 have made it difficult to live away from family.

“I backed him for what he wanted to do, if he wanted to go home that is fair enough,” Ryan said.

“He said it is a life decision, not a footy decision, so I respect that.

“Players are going to come and go … he is a really good kid and I hope him the best for the future.”
