Dockers down the Demons

Article image for Dockers down the Demons

Fremantle have weathered the wet conditions in Cairns to almost extinguish the Demons finals hopes.

The Dockers started quickly with majority of the attack but failed to covert their early opportunities until Michael Walters got them underway.

Heavy rain throughout the game meant both sides struggled to finish – the Demons unable to find their first major until the second quarter through Jayden Hunt.

Mr Consistent Matthew Taberner couldn’t continue his run of form in front of goals, Michael Walters instead stepping up to boot three for night.

Youngster Adam Cerra also chipped in with a classy banana from the boundary in the final term.

While the Demons fought back in the final term – it was the story of “too little too late” allowing the Dockers to run out 14 point winners.

The loss leaves the Demons needing to win their final 2 games while relying on other results to have any chance of making finals.
