Speaking with 6PR Weekends host Chrissy Morrissy, CarExpert.com.au’s road test editor Ben Zachariah said diesel drivers would bear the brunt of the price hikes.
“For diesel, about a month ago, it was $1.80 per litre and that is now at $2.30 per litre, which is about a 28 per cent increase. That’s just in the last month. Then we’re going to get the 17¢ or so excise tacked on top of that. If you’re driving a diesel vehicle you could be paying $2.50 a litre within the next couple of days,” he said.
