Iconic AFL commentator, Dennis Cometti, has diverted his way with words for a Grand Final song to suit a 2020 audience.

Cometti is known for his quick wit and word sleuthing during his years of commentating, but he’s now written a couple of songs.

“Last One Standing” was the title of the song written by Cometti ahead of the 2010 AFL Grand Final, but because there’s been so many changes to the season this year and the Grand Final is being held at the GABBA instead of the MCG, he thought the song was due for an update.

Cometti told 6PR Breakfast he’s formed a friendship with the American band that performs the song.

“I rang the boys this year and suggested we redo the song in the age of COVID we changed a few things, it won’t be sung at the GABBA but it will be on the giant screen immediately before the game with highlights,” he told Steve and Baz.
