David Mundy: “I think it’s great players are able to have a bit of choice with their place of employment”

Fremantle legend David Mundy has weighed in on the Lachie Schultz trade during his regular “Mundy” night spot.

“I think Collingwood ultimately win. But I think Fremantle has done quite well given the situation.”

Following Schultz’s trade back to his home state in Victoria, and Liam Henry’s move to St Kilda, Mundy provided a players’ perspective on the concept of choosing where to play.

“I think it’s great we’re encouraging this environment where players are able to have a bit of choice with their employment and where they end up.”

Dockers Executive General Manager Peter Bell spoke of his disappointment in losing both players but was comfortable with both trades.

“It’s not a nice feeling when you lose players but we think it’s fair compensation.”

The Dockers now hold a strong draft hand for the 2024 draft and Bell was happy with the position the club is in.

“As it stands now we’ve got some really good collateral and we might use those selections, or we might use them as trade collateral. We’ll make the right decisions as we see fit.”
