Crows Smash Eagles From The Start

Article image for Crows Smash Eagles From The Start

The West Coast Eagles were unable to recover from nine consecutive Crows goals at the start of the game and have suffered a big 57-point loss to the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval on Sunday for the 19.12 (126) to 10.9 (69) scoreline.

Adelaide powered into the game with eight goals in the first quarter while the Eagles only managed a single minor score at the first break. The Crows added another major score before the Eagles finally broke their goal drought with a Mark Hutchings goal and then went on to kick another four goals in an attempt to minimise the margin heading into half time.

But the Crows took charge again in the third quarter for another 50-point margin at the last break and continued in the same form to finish the game.

Daniel Talia dominated in defence limiting Eagles reliable goal kicker, Josh Kennedy, to a single goal that he snuck through in the final quarter. To add to the Eagles woes, Jeremy McGovern was subbed out with a shoulder injury.
Jamie Cripps and Mark LeCras both managed two goals apiece.

Adelaide’s Josh Jenkins impressed with six goals while Brodie Smith and Scott Thompson both finished with 29 disposals.
