The West Australian Cricket Association believes it has a greater chance of opening the new Perth Stadium following yesterday’s announcement of the NRL being played at the venue.

Construction of the stadium is nearing completion and on schedule to open in early next year.

The WACA is hoping to stage the one day international between Australia and England at the 1.2 billion dollar venue on January 28.

Christina Matthews says playing the match there would be great for the state.
