Australian author Craig Silvey’s best-selling novel, Runt is about to hit the big screen, sharing the loveable journey of a stray dog and his unlikely friend.

Mr Silvey took Jamie Burnett on 6PR Weekends through the journey of bringing the loveable characters to life.

“We made it a point of focus for our casting team to rescue a stray dog… that’s where we found squid,” said Mr Silvey.

“Now she’s going to be the most famous dog in Australia and she’s got a home for life.”
