Cox: MacKenzie needs confidence

Article image for Cox: MacKenzie needs confidence

West Coast Eagles assistant coach Dean Cox says 2014 Best and Fairest Eric MacKenzie needs to regain confidence in the WAFL.

MacKenzie last played for the Eagles in round 11, missed round 12 with a virus and played in the WAFL before the bye.

Mitch Brown, who hasn’t played in 2016 due to a finger injury, has been included in the team.

Cox said MacKenzie has been sent back to the WAFL to find form and confidence.

‘For him now it’s just about going back and getting some confidence,’ Cox said.

‘About him playing week-in, week-out, building that confidence and getting back to that form we know he’s capable of.

‘The coaching staff has full belief he will get back to that very, very shortly.’
