Evidence has come to light about how trophy hunting fishers are deliberately putting pig carcass’ and small dead sharks out in the water to attract bigger sharks to the shore so they can catch them off beaches where you swim.

A Perth scuba diver and advocate against shark fishing has been left in shock after being sent a photograph, by these cowboy shark hunters, of a dead shark with her name carved into it, left at a jetty in the southern coastal council of Cockburn.

“Majority of the time they do not come that close to the shore – they’re actually using kayaks to drop them out and using things to weigh them down like concrete,” Lisa Jane Hills, Scuba Diver and Veterinarian told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings.

“People aren’t aware of what’s going on until they see these sharks being pulled in and these people are then put in the media as heroes but really they don’t give a damn about the lives of other beach goers – it’s for their ego and their Instagram.”
