Western Australia’s state of emergency will end at 12.01am this Friday, November 4.

After 963 days in place, the state of emergency declaration will not be renewed based on the health advice from the chief health officer.

Perth Live presenter Oliver Peterson spoke to Jaya Dantas from Curtin University’s School of Population Health about what precautions are in place.

“Basically what the government have said is they now have a backup law,” she explained.

“The state emergency coordinator, in the case of WA this is the police commissioner,

“They can make a three-month declaration and re-introduce certain isolation requirements or mask requirements if the need arises.”
