At a council meeting on Tuesday, Cr Tom Widenbar proposed a motion urging fellow councillors to cancel a $114,000 trip to Croatia.

Central Ward Councillor, City of Cockburn Tom Widenbar joined Oliver Peterson on Perth Live to question the necessity of sending councillors to Croatia for a two-week trip. 

“I think back in the day they [trips] were more of a thing, I think in today’s digital age I personally struggle to see the value of sending a few elected members over to the European summer for two weeks,” Cr Widenbar said.

“As a ratepayer, I want to ensure the rates that I’m paying are being used appropriately.”
