Article image for Controversial call: Should daylight saving be nationally unified?

Media commentator and Media Stable Managing Director Nic Hayes suggests that the decision on implementing or abolishing daylight saving should be consistent nationwide and determined either through a referendum or by the federal government making a decisive call.

Mr Hayes told Russell Collett on 6PR Afternoons,We’ve got to start thinking about whether we are all in on daylight saving or all out because it drives everyone insane across the country.”

“Those old reasons for having daylight saving, they’re not real.”

“I think it’s a captain’s call, it should be under the federal government, not a state government jurisdiction to declare the time zone of that state,” Mr Hayes continued.
