An 87-year-old local woman was rescued over the weekend after spending the night lost in dense bushland south-east of Nannup.

Press PLAY to hear about the rescue

Acting Superintendent Andy Elliott of WAPOL’s South West District praised the police who found her down a goat track, noting that chainsaws were required to reach her.

Speaking with 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont, Elliott recognised the woman’s impressive preparation, which he believes saved her life.

“She’s a very experienced walker and fortunately for her I think probably one of the biggest things that helped her was she had water, she had reasonably warm clothing for the time of year and she did have some snacks with her,” he said.
