Private landlords are being warned about crime gangs who are using Perth rentals to grow cannabis in large set ups. 

A Belmont landlord has opened his home to show the mess that can be made in these set ups which has caused and has caused tens of thousands of dollars damage through floorboards being ripped up, water pipes adjusted and a huge electricity bill. 

Acting commissioner for consumer protection, David Hillyard, told Simon Beaumont on 6PR’s Afternoons show  

‘In the last seven months the Police have turned over 21 homes that have been turned into these cannabis drug growing properties and the amount of damage which has been caused to these properties is just unbelievable. ‘
