SCORCHERS WIN

Perth Scorchers have handed Melbourne Renegades their first loss this season, chasing down 131 with an over to spare.

In front of 30,018 at Etihad Stadium, the Scorchers made hard work of the chase before sealing the match with an over to spare. Michael Klinger (37) and David Willey (31) set up the victory for Justin Langer’s team.

In a losing side, Brad Hogg was productive once more, taking 2-16 off his four overs.

INNINGS BREAK

Melbourne Renegades have it all to do, finishing on just 9-130 off their 20 overs.

Mitchell Johnson showed no signs of slowing down and was the clear standout, finishing with figures of 3-13 off his four overs for the away team. Andrew Tye continued his good form too, ending up with 3-30 off his full allotment.

Tom Cooper (34) and Marcus Harris (32) offered some resistance for the Renegades but it remains to be seen whether their efforts will be enough.

RECAP

All the big news from the world of cricket:

====

Tonight’s clash in Melbourne pits two of the three most in-form teams against each other as a high-octane Friday Night blockbuster under the roof at Etihad Stadium looms.

Between the two sides, they haven’t lost all season thus far and look the early favourites to meet again in a few weeks’ time as the season reaches its climax.

Tonight’s matchup will also pit the two highest wicket takers of BBL|07 so far against each other. Andrew Tye has taken more wickets than any other player so far (nine), while Dwayne Bravo has claimed seven scalps for the Renegades.

Cameron White continues to be the standout batter for the Renegades and was particularly damaging against Brisbane Heat last Saturday night, blasting his way to a half-century before departing for 51.

As for the Scorchers, Hilton Cartwright smoked 58 off 53 against the Stars and looms as an ever-present danger for the home team tonight.

Can Melbourne Renegades beat the Perth Scorchers for the time in BBL history?
