From Sorrento-Duncraig to the AFL Grand Final: The Opportunity of a Lifetime

Hugo Ketjen is about to live out the dream of hundreds of thousands of Auskickers all around the country.
Listen via the player above.
When the players from Brisbane and Geelong make their way off the field at half time of Saturday’s AFL Grand Final, Hugo will make his way onto it!
Hugo won his way to the ‘G with his video being selected as the winner out of thousands of applicants. In just 40 seconds, Hugo explained what he loves about footy, why he would be a good teammate (even getting his dog, Lilly, involved!) and took three running-bounces and kicked a goal. His smile was ever-present throughout.
Hugo is just seven years old and does his best work for Sorrento-Duncraig in Perth’s northern suburbs.
He’s a keen midfielder, although you’d be forgiven for assuming he is an aspiring forward as he rolled out his goal-celebrations during our interview!
And who inspired these celebrations? You guessed it; Harley Reid.
Although Hugo’s Eagles haven’t been overly inspiring, his love for the game is more than enough to fill that void and his passion burst through the microphone as he spoke.
Hugo is travelling over with his Mum, Dad, and Sister (who are also 6PR listeners!) and will meet some of his heroes on Thursday night at an Auskick function, participate in the AFL Grand Final Parade on Friday, and then run out onto the ‘G at half time of Saturday’s Grand Final, hopefully ready to roll out some of those goal celebrations.
