The AFL has announced seven rule changes for the 2026 season, including a free kick for the last disposal out of bounds between the fifty-metre arcs.

Adam Papalia, 6PR Football guru, discussed these changes with Perth Live host Oliver Peterson, explaining that the AFL aims to speed up the game.

Papalia commented, ‘I was surprised that they didn’t actually reduce the game time; there’s been talk of that going back to 18 minutes,’ adding, ‘I still think that might happen in the future,’ he said.”
