After weeks of debate, Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew has been given his walking papers.

The now-former head coach of the Suns had a year left on his contract in his sixth season as coach.

Nine News and 6PR reporter Mark Readings told Millsy and Mick on 6PR Breakfast the change of guard must open the door for Damien Hardwick to make his way north.

“Let’s look at the numbers: in 2018 they finished seventeenth; 2019, eighteenth; twelfth in 2022 and they’re currently thirteenth as we speak,” Mr Readings said.
