An AI expert suggests that artificial intelligence could offer an unbiased approach to umpiring, urging the AFL to invest in the technology.

Emma Crichton, founder of Emble Co and a Hawthorn supporter, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy & Mick that while the game still requires a human touch, AI could offer objective decisions based strictly on the rulebook.

“[AI] would have no bias, it wouldn’t listen to the crowd, it wouldn’t have any bias. It would just use the rulebook,” she said.
