Shadow tourism minister criticises WA tourism funding as ‘missing the mark’
The state opposition is calling for increased investment in tourism after Tourism WA’s annual report revealed a drop of 700,000 visitors to Western Australia in 2025–26.

Speaking to 6PR Drive host Mark Doran, shadow tourism minister Mark Leary emphasised that niche experiences require stronger marketing.
“I think we’re missing a bit of a mark with Aboriginal tourism. I think they’re grossly underfunded and I think that’s a real opportunity when we start selling the state and the experiences available,” he said.
