Robert Reid has been crowned Australia’s porridge-making champion at the Pearly Spurtle.

Inspired by the famous Golden Spurtle competition – which gained global attention after a documentary went viral – Reid told Long Lunch host Tod Johnston about his success.

“Five weeks ago after my wife told me she entered me in the competition I called him and I said dad I think I need to borrow your spurtle”, he said.

Reid will now head to Scotland in October to represent Australia on the world stage.
