Premier Roger Cook has described today as a “very sad but proud day” following Paul Papalia’s retirement announcement.

Speaking to 6PR Drive host Mark Doran, the Premier acknowledged the “challenge” of Papalia’s ministerial portfolios while praising his accomplishments.

“He’s done a great job in that space (corrective services) and I’m really proud of him. There was one moment that made me particularly proud of Mark and that was when he visited the young detainees at Banksia Hill on Christmas Day, talking to each of them, engaging with them and that’s a real sign of his commitment and his great values,” he said.
