A petition submitted to the state parliament is calling for human composting – also known as terramation – to be recognised and regulated in Western Australia alongside burial and cremation.

Cara Walker, of Walker Family Funerals, told 6PR Mornings host Chrissy Morrissy that the process is already used in other countries and is conducted with the utmost respect.

“It’s the one process where your body becomes nutrient soil to give back to the earth and become part of the ecosystem again, which I believe is inherently what we all would like to be”, she said.
