This new national warning system gives emergency management teams the ability to send alerts directly to eligible mobile devices.

Assistant Minister for Emergency Management Josh Wilson told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont about the system’s capabilities, along with the challenges posed by limited mobile coverage in rural Western Australia.

“That puts the onus on us to keep improving and getting the telcos to keep improving the availability of those services”, he said.
