The City of Perth council unanimously backed a motion by Councillor Chris Patton, calling for the city to investigate ways to make Northbridge safer, primarily by improving communication between the licensing authority and venues.

Patton told 6PR Drive host Jamie Burnett that the Protected Entertainment Precinct laws, enacted in 2022, ban troublemakers from the area, but the inability of venues to get up-to-date communication prevents effective enforcement.

“So there’s no real clear way for us as venue owners to know who has been served a short-term exclusion order, who is a repeat offender and who should not be here,” he said.
