The government announced a pre-budget promise to spend $692 million on regional housing across Broome, Port Hedland, Karratha, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and Albany.

6PR’s Jamie Smith, reporting from the announcement, told Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the housing is specifically earmarked for frontline service workers, including teachers, health workers, and police.

He said 500 new homes will be fast-tracked, and $140 million had been footed by mining giants.
