‘Zero support’: Exmouth retailer says lack of aid is severely hampering town’s recovery
Following Cyclone Narelle, the state government launched a $1.45 million tourism business support package, which includes payments to eligible cyclone-affected and accredited tourism businesses.
However, local business owner Matt Gates, of Tackle World Exmouth, is now asking where the money has gone as he fights to recover.
Gates explained to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that he also experienced Cyclone Vance in the region and does not remember struggling to get support the way he has this time.
“You get sleepless nights worrying about how I’m going to pay the wages next week because I’ve had zero income and zero support from the government,” he said.
