Over 900 locals have presented a petition to the City of Fremantle council calling for improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists along Hampton Road between High Street and Rockingham Road.

Press PLAY to hear about the push for a safety overhaul

Julie Murphy, founder and spokesperson for Friends of Hampton and Ord, explained to 6PR Drive host Jamie Burnett that the increasingly busy, straight stretch of road sees cars speeding through without regard for pedestrians.

“People see it as a place where they can put their foot down and try to speed through. They don’t see it as a place that’s possibly full of pedestrians and cyclists,” she said.
