The John Graham Reserve near Woodmans Point in Coogee continues to face a long-running and evolving battle to stop illegal camping in the area.

Dan Arndt, the City of Cockburn’s Director of Sustainable Development and Safety, explained to 6PR Morning host Simon Beaumont that the core issue is the reserve’s state ownership, which is compounded by the housing crisis forcing people to opt for cheap accommodation.

“The big issue there is the DBCA don’t have enough officers to actually monitor all the state reserves within the metropolitan area,” he said.
