The prestigious award honours courageous individuals who have positively changed sport for the better. Beachley explained to the 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl what it meant to receive the honour from her friend, Dawn Fraser.

“She is the matriarch of sport is this country and I’m just really proud to be recognised in her honour because she fought for fairness and she never gave up and she challenge the status quo and she’s a classic Aussie battler and just a tremendous human being so I’m very honoured,” she said.
