Australia’s net zero target is deemed futile by Cian Hussey, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs, who highlighted to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson that China emits more carbon in 12 days than Australia does in an entire year.

Click PLAY to hear about China’s emissions.

Hussey argues that Australia’s emissions are insignificant in comparison, noting,

“Since the year 2004 Australia has decreased omissions in total by 187 thousand tonnes, but during this time China’s omissions alone have gone up by 6.7 billion tonnes, so this means that for every tonne of carbon we have decrease China have added 36 thousand tonnes.”
