After months of tough negotiations, the State government has confirmed a $65 million deal with the NRL to secure its 18th team – the Perth Bears – with the new franchise to join the competition in 2027.

Premier Roger Cook stopped by The Shoe Bar to chat to 6PR Radio Perth Live Oliver Peterson during his live outside broadcast, and said the deal was about supporting rugby league in WA, the economy and marketing Perth as a great destination.

Oly also spoke to Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter Vlandys and NRL CEO Andrew Abdo after the historic announcement was made at HBF Park.
