NSW trial new noise cameras to capture loud cars in ‘hoon’ areas

New technology is set to be trialed in known ‘hoon’ areas around Botany Bay and Wollongong, with cameras able to detect and capture loud cars and motorcycles.

Ben Zachariah, motoring journalist from Drive.com.au, spoke to 6PR Afternoons host Julie-anne Sprague on the new way of law enforcement.

“They are designed to pick up loud vehicles within 15m of the microphone, flagging those omitting sounds above the legal limit,” he said.
