An apparent increase in the number of bull shark sightings in the Swan River us far upstream as Guildford has fishers and the industry concerned, while biologists are pushing to understand as much as they can about these now-common marine creatures.

A number of recent incidents in WA waters have been blamed on bull sharks, a fact that has renewed the statement from ecologists and others: you are in their territory.

Australian Marine Conservation Society Biologist Leonardo Guida told Jamie Burnett on Perth Live bull sharks are known to be aggressive.

“But as with any other animal, you treat them with respect and whenever you’re potentially interacting with them in their environment, you be cautious around your activities,” Doctor Guida said.
