AFL hall of famer Barry Cable committed sexual abuse, judge finds

Simon Beaumont

AFL hall of famer Barry Cable has been ordered by Perth District Court to pay $818,700 to the victim of his alleged sexual abuse in the 1960s and 70s.

Cable repeatedly sexually abused the Perth girl during his playing career, a judge has found.

6PR reporter Jess Shackleton told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the amount reflected the victim’s loss of income and mental health care needed due to Mr Cable’s alleged actions.

“$15,000 of that total amount is for psychotherapy alone,” Ms Shackleton said.
