26 years on: Lara Jensen’s fight for train safety
Twenty-six years after losing her brother, Christian, in a collision involving a fully loaded grain train in the Wheatbelt, Lara Jensen continues her campaign for mandatory train lighting.

Speaking to 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont, she described the progress as “glacially slow”.
“Progress is glacially slow when it comes to the rail industry. Probably at the root of this … the Australian standards that govern lighting and rolling stock on trains, in themselves, are not referred to in legislation so it isn’t legally enforceable,” she said.
