Young people from affluent areas seven times more likely to binge drink
A new study has revealed young people from wealthier suburbs consume more alcohol than people of the same age from poorer areas.
La Trobe University’s Centre for Alcohol Policy Research researcher Dr Amy Pennay told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live affordability and culture play a role in the amount of alcohol consumed.
“Affluent areas are seven times more likely to consume alcohol than those in lower socioeconomic areas,” said Dr Pennay.
