The worst word or phrase of 2021, according to the The Plain English Foundation, has been revealed.

The phrase ‘Centres for National Resilience’ has been voted this years worst, the title given to quarantine centres around the country.

“The federal authorities were really proud of their new network of ‘Centres for National Resilience’ they’re building,” Plain English Foundation Executive Director Dr Neil James said.

“And every time they mention them they have to say ‘Centres for National Resilience, (quarantine centres)’, because nobody understands what Centres for National Resilience means!”

Coming in at a close second was another pandemic related phrase – ‘national vaccination allocation horizons’.

“It’s what you have when you’re not having a vaccine target,” Dr James said.
