The Socceroos have defied the odds, advancing to the last 16 at the FIFA World Cup.

Australia upset world number 10 Denmark 1-nil in their final group stage match.

Veteran winger Matthew Leckie scored the winner in the 60th minute.

It is the first time the Socceroos have won two matches at a world cup tournament.

They will take on either Argentina, Poland or Saudi Arabia in the knockout round.
