Explaining the potential ramifications to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont, Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie noted that this new legislation could heavily affect Australia, a nation increasingly lagging in its climate responsibilities.

“The curve now to reduce our emissions and stay within our international obligations and stay in line with the science to protect Australians is actually now very steep,” she said.
