Woman in her 70s severely injured in violent carjacking in Perth’s south

A woman in her 70s has sustained serious injuries as two men violently carjacked her car while she was parked in her own driveway in Hamilton Hill.
The two men allegedly ran over the woman after being forced out of her car.
Michael Stamp, 6PR/Nine News reporter told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that the woman was simply arriving at her home after her early morning walk.
“Police say it was a very opportunistic attack, rather than a targeted attack. An altercation took place and they pushed her to the ground – they stole the car and while they were reversing the woman was still on the ground, police say they ran over her and drove off.”
“We spoke to a neighbour who went to help, she heard a lot of yelling and arguing – she came outside and saw her neighbour on the ground in a lot of pain and immediately called the police and paramedics.”
A 24 year-old man and a 22 year-old man have both been charged and will appear in court tomorrow.
