Wine industry warns: Higher prices, thousands of jobs at risk over container scheme expansion
The wine industry is pleading for a 12-month delay to the July 1 launch of wine bottles into the container deposit scheme, warning the expansion will threaten thousands of jobs.

Sandalford Wines chief executive Grant Brinklow explained to 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the scheme costs are borne by producers and then ultimately hit consumers, stressing the delay is essential for wineries to minimise the impact while navigating other current global economic strains.
“This is effectively an additional tax on the industry,” he said.
