Why we need to stop hating on pasta as the ‘bad carb’

Emma Beckett, Senior Lecturer in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Newcastle toldĀ Perth Live that pasta is commonly a target for diet culture.
“Carbs are typically something that people try and cut out when they’re trying to reduce the amount of kilojoules in their diet and when they want to lose weight,” Ms Beckett said.
But pasta is more than just ‘bad carbs’ according to Ms Beckett’s research.
“One thing that people don’t realise about pasta, is that it’s actually perfectly nutritionally balanced when it comes to the recommendations of where we should source our energy from.”
