Why the fun has been taken out of early childhood learning
New research by Edith Cowan University has revealed standardised tests are having a detrimental impact on the way young children are learning.
ECU early childhood expert Dr Pauline Roberts told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live there is too much pressure on school performance.
“The preparation for NAPLAN is starting earlier and earlier… and so the opportunities for children to learn holistically through play and by interacting with one another are being reduced,” said Dr Roberts.
