The Federal Health Minister believes Australia’s Medicare system is not working and needs an overhaul.

The Minister believes more funding needs to go into the system which is putting lives at risk.

Deputy Director of Health Consumers’ Council Clare Mullen told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live Medicare has been failing for a long time.

“We need a tailored health system for Western Australia,” said Ms Mullen.

President of the Royal Australian College of GPs Dr Nicole Higgins told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live an overhaul may do more damage than good.

“Reform without proper investment is doomed to fail,” said Dr Higgins.
