A petition has been made calling on the state government to open the borders as they promised on February 5.

Liam Bartlett, 6PR Mornings host spoke to Dr Kannan Venugopal, a Perth gastroenterologist and clinical researcher, who has signed the petition among many others.

“Our freedoms are really important, and our civil liberties are so important we have to stand up for what we think is right,” he said.

“We have to reassure people. The government messaging has been really bad, and the AMA has to be a nuanced voice of reason rather than the scaremongering and getting people into this panic mode.”
