The Brisbane Lord Mayor wants to relocate the city’s homeless to a “Centre for Resilience’, but Perth is wary of following suit for a number of reasons.

Gary Adshead questioned Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zemplilas on 6PR Mornings as to why the $400 Bullsbrook facility built during the Covid pandemic – now sitting vacant – couldn’t be used to house the homeless.

“To round up a whole lot of people who might be on our streets and then plonk them into one facility all together goes against everything that has been discussed by the experts in terms of managing people who are experienceing homelessness,” Mr Zempilas said.

“Putting a huge number of people all together in one facility is just asking for trouble.”
