The Cook Government’s proposed Indigenous Heritage Law changes are looking to be dead in the water, with Labor MPs themselves now admitting the rollout of the legislation was badly planned.

Labor Member for the Agricultural Region Darren West fronted a disgruntled group of farmers in Katanning last night where he admitted the government had “botched” the implementation.

One of Perth’s top lawyers and a signatory to the historic Mabo case, Greg MacIntyre SC has been outspoken in his opposition to the laws, and told Gary Adshead onĀ 6PR Mornings the plans were misguided from the outset.

“A farmer came and spoke to me and said, ‘Look, there is no-one I can actually talk to to make sure I’m, doing due diligence, what am I supposed to do?'” Mr MacIntyre said.
